About the. They are fragments of a life, that of Ray, an uprooted doorman, blackfoot, camped for 40 years on the edge of a chic building on Park Avenue in Manhattan. These are bursts of life, those of some 135 inhabitants that he observes, every day, sometimes at night, out of the corner of his eye. These are snatches of lives, finally, those of thousands of anonymous people in a hurry who roam New York, meeting his gaze. Time is passing. Standing, Ray seems immovable, never still, a witness bringing together these little things that weave an existence. And what a trip!
The interest. Deeply human, full of poetry, the book, which traces the daily life of an “invisible” worker, won, a few weeks ago, the prize for business and work novels. For the twelfth year in a row, this trophy, awarded to the ministry in the presence of Elisabeth Borne, by the company Technologia, famous for authors who depict the world of work and its thousand facets.
