According to the representatives of the LNSO, this will be the last concert that the orchestra will give on the stage of its permanent home – the Grand Guild – before the renovation of the building. The young French musician, one of the brightest cellists of his generation, Edgar Moreau, will perform as a special guest at the musical celebrations of the end of the season. A day later, on May 14, at 5 pm, listeners will be able to enjoy this concert program at the Latgale Embassy “Gors”.

The guest of the concert, the French cellist Edgar Moro, made his debut on the big stage at the age of 11, playing the famous Cello Concerto by composer Antonín Dvořák. A composition of this level is most often in the repertoire of already experienced professionals. About 17 years have passed since his debut, and the charismatic musician has become one of the brightest cellists of his generation, performing in the world’s largest concert halls, winning laurels at Rostropovich and Tchaikovsky competitions, and playing with musicians such as Jojo Ma, Emanuel Andy and many others. He has collaborated with several world-renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Roman St. Cecilia Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra. This will be Moro’s first meeting with the Latvian audience.

Conductor Andris Pogawho has been the principal conductor of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra since 2021 and is currently working with the LNSO as an artistic advisor, met the cellist Moro on the same stage five years ago, performing the Dvořák Cello Concerto with the Toulouse National Capitol Orchestra.
