At the end of July, the seventh “Jurmala Festival” will take place in Dzintari Concert Hall | The news

Riga, June 29, LETA. At the end of July, the seventh “Jurmala Festival” will take place in Dzintari Concert Hall, LETA was informed in Dzintari Concert Hall.

The festival will take place from July 27 to July 31, and will feature five concerts.

The honorary artist of the festival is opera singer Alexander Antonenko. It will feature Latvian and world-renowned artists – Raimonds Pauls, Ksenija Sidorova, Iveta Apkalne, Zanda Švēde, Intars Busulis, Laima Vaikule, Daumants Kalniņš, Dināra Rudāne, Latvian Radio Big Band, “Sinfonietta Rīga”, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO), conductor Ainārs Rubiķis and Andris Poga, as well as other artists.

A concert of Paul’s 85th anniversary is planned as a special event of the festival.

The opening of the Jūrmala festival is planned for July 27 at 8 pm, where Paul’s music program with a soloist’s parade will be performed.

On July 29, at 8 pm, Gustav Mahler’s monumental opus “Song of the Earth” will be performed. The soloists of this composition will be the internationally acclaimed Latvian mezzo-soprano, the soloist of the Frankfurt Opera Švēde and the world-famous Latvian tenor Antonenko, who has sung more than 30 roles in the world’s most prestigious opera houses. The main conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra will be joined by its chief conductor Poga.

A sunrise concert by the world-famous organist Apkalna by the sea will take place on July 30 at 7 p.m. The unusual event gathered hundreds of listeners on Dzintari beach for two years in a row and provided an unforgettable experience of listening to music, the sounds of nature merging with the royal organ pillars and the Apkalna organ playing.

Ksenija Sidorova’s solo concert is scheduled for July 30 at 8 pm in the renovated historical small hall of Dzintari Concert Hall.

On July 31, at 8 pm, continuing the tradition established in the centenary of Latvia, the “Jurmala Festival” is scheduled to meet with Latvian-born musicians who have gained wide international recognition – world-famous tenor Antonenko, accordionist Sidorov, opera singer Laura Greckis, violinist Daniil Bulajev, violinist Guntaru Freibergu.

Visitors to Jurmala Festival concerts will be required to present an interoperable vaccination or Covid-19 illness certificate, as well as an identity document.
