At the close of trading in New York, it fell 0.34%, while it weakened 0.08% and strengthened 0.63%.
Among today’s top stocks was Salesforce Inc (NYSE:NYSE), which rose 4.69%, or 6.59 points, to close at 147.10. Conversely, Intel Group (NASDAQ:) shares rose 2.02%, or 0.58 points, to close at 29.31, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) shares rose by 1.41%, or 4.92 points, to 353.00 since the end of the session.
As for the worst performer at the end of the day, Merck & Co. (NYSE: ) finished down 3.88%, or 4.46 points, to trade at 110.38 at the close. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) fell 2.59%, or 4.67 points, to close at 175.58, and Kos Travelers Corporation (NYSE:) closed down 2.45%, or 4.75 points , at 189.12.
The best performance of the Standard & Poor’s 500 index was instead recorded by Tesla stock (NASDAQ:), which rose by 5.93%, to a price of 119.77, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:) also continued to climb 5.90% to close at 13.81, as did In Vidia Group (NASDAQ:) stock, which rose 5.18% to close at 156.28 .
Among the stocks that underperformed today were Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:), which was down 7.74%, to close at 44.70; Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:), which was down 7.69%. at 680.49, and Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:), which weakened by 4.99% and closed at 495.41 in today’s trading session.
The best performance of the Nasdaq index was instead recorded by shares Cin Cor Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 143.97%, to a price of 28.74, Amryt Pharma Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) also continued its climb to 106.99% and closed at 14.51 levels, as well as Albireo Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:) climbed 92.16% and closed at 43.85.
Among the underperforming stocks today we mention the stock of the company Calithera Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 81.77%, and closed the session at a price of 0.66 shares of Peak Bio Inc (NASDAQ:), which was down 27.27%, at a price of 2, 56 shares. Cerus Corp (NASDAQ:), which weakened by 28.04% and closed today’s trading session at 2.72.
The number of gainers surpassed the number of stocks that finished lower in trading on the New York Stock Exchange with 1,867 versus 1,201, while 99 remained unchanged. On the Nasdaq stock exchange, 2182 stocks strengthened their positions and 1581 withdrew, while 158 stocks held their value.

Gold futures for February delivery rose 0.33%, or 6.10%, to close at $1,875.80 an ounce. EUR/USD gained 0.83% to trade as low as 1.07, while USD/JPY continued its 0.19% decline to hit 131.82 levels.
Dollar index futures fell 0.68% to 102.94.
