The Hospital de Clínicas developed an unprecedented program so that a patient can be treated, diagnosed and operated on for breast cancer in fifteen daysreported Telemundo.

The first novelty of the program is the weather: the patient arrives referred by another doctor or with symptoms and on the first day several specialists see her. A mammogram and the necessary studies are done and the pathological report is available five days later.
“If it is benign, he is referred to his health provider. If it is breast cancer, we start a campaign from the fifth or sixth day to join a tumor committee with other specialists: plastic surgery, general surgery, radiotherapy, psychology, social worker, to operate or start cancer treatment in a week”Explained to Telemundo the oncologist Gabriel Krygier.
The program has two other novelties. The first is called Navigator nurse, who will accompany the patient in all stages from the beginning of the diagnosis, and the second is a “little hotel” to accommodate people who come from the interior and relatives during those days.
