Following the twelve-year ban on former Italian top footballer Francesco Flachi, he re-entered the fifth-division AD SS Signa on Sunday at the age of 46, MTI reported, citing La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Francesco Flachit twice banned for doping offenses during his career. He first received a two-year ban on cocaine use in February 2007, even as a Sampdoria player. Three years later, when he was an Italian second-division Brescia footballer, he broke into a doping control for the second time: his sample again found traces of cocaine. After the latter, he was sentenced to twelve years in prison.
Flachi has turned up in Serie A as a member of several bands during his professional career, spending the most significant period of his career in Sampdoria, where he was also a team captain. Including second-class appearances in the club’s colors, he scored 110 goals in 280 matches, making him the third most successful player in the history of the Genoa club.
