At the age of 20, the figure skater Alexandrovska, a participant in the Olympic Games, dies tragically

Alexandrov’s coach Hekalo told AFP that the young woman had fallen out of a sixth-floor window in central Moscow.

Russian media report that she had left a note reading “Love” indicating that it may have been suicide.

Hekalo said Alexandrovsky missed training in January, was then diagnosed with epilepsy, and the figure skater gave up his career as an athlete.

Even before she was diagnosed with epilepsy, she suffered from depression, the coach added.

“I tried to keep her in the sport at my own risk,” Hekalo said.

He said his pair of skates were particularly good. “She was fearless. She was like a fish in water,” he added.

Alexandrovsky, unnoticed by the Russian sports system, changed nationality and skated with Harley Windsor, who eventually became Australia’s first Aboriginal athlete to participate in the Winter Olympics.

The pair were crowned world junior champions in 2017, winning Australia’s first world figure skating title and receiving a ticket to the Pyongyang Olympics.

Windsor said of the incident that he was “devastated and sick after Katja’s sad and sudden death.”

“Achievements during our partnership are something I will never forget and will always be in my heart,” he said in a statement on Instagram.

Australian skating president Peter Lynch called Alexandrovsky “an outstanding athlete with incredible vigor and determination”.

She and Windsor “did what many thought was impossible,” he said in a statement.

“Together, they have made an outstanding achievement that will be on the Australian record for many years.”

In the 2018 Olympic Games, Aleksandrovska and Windsor took the 18th place, but in the World Championship they won the 16th place.
