Operators already operating on the market bought them for almost EUR 100 million.
The largest players: Slovak Telekom (T-mobile), Orange and o2 will pay about EUR 98 million for frequencies. The fourth and smallest participant in the telecommunications market, SWAN, will pay EUR 0.6 million, but will not be able to build 5G infrastructure on its own. It will be able to offer such services using the network of other competitors.
The auction for frequencies allowing the construction of a 5G network was canceled several times. One such decision was a warning from the Slovak Information Service (SIS). Details have not been released.
A week ago, the minister of transport informed the media that the winners of the auction will certainly be known in 2020.
A similar tender in the Czech Republic has also been concluded among the existing operators, and the state treasury will receive EUR 211 million.
