The city of New York and in general the tri-state area suffered late Monday afternoon the force of the snow storm that began Sunday night.
After noon, it was reported that in Central Park for the case, almost 14 inches of snow had fallen or accumulated (about 35 centimeters or more than a foot), according to a report from the National Weather Service.
As of the 18Z observation (1PM), NYC at Central Park has reported a storm total snowfall of 13.3″ (8″ in the last 6 hours) and it is still snowing. #NYwx #CTwx #NJwx

In addition to the constant snow there are also strong winds of between 40 and 50 miles per hour.

The snowfall is not expected to end until Tuesday morning, by which time there will be accumulations of up to 18 inches.
