At least twenty dead in Peru bus accident

At least twenty people were killed in a bus accident in Peru. Fourteen people were injured.

The coach of Fama Tours drove in mountainous area in the province of Pomabamba and was on its way to the capital Lima. The bus skid for unknown reasons and overturned. Eighteen people died on the spot, two others died on the way to hospital.

Serious bus accidents regularly happen in Peru. This is often due to the poor condition of the roads and inadequate maintenance of the vehicles. Every year, more than 4,200 people are killed in traffic in the country, estimates the World Health Organization.
