A spectacular accident that occurred this Tuesday, June 13, on the Vía Blanca, took the lives of at least two people and left several others injured in the province of Mayabeque.
According to Internet user Guillermo Hipólito Plácido, a member of the Facebook group ‘Accidents, Buses and Trucks, for more experience and fewer victims’, the incident occurred in the morning, near Puerto Escondido, in the municipality of Santa Cruz del Norte.
The accident occurred between a tanker truck and another for mass transportation of passengers that covered the route between Matanzas and Havana.
Some sources on social networks maintain that there were two deaths after the accident, while others assure that there were three.
Additionally, three people ended up in serious condition and were taken to the ‘Faustino Pérez’ Provincial Hospital in the city of Matanzas. Among the injured is a minor.
“This is the girl Nayelis Gonzalez Villamil, ten years old, from the municipality of Alquízar, province of Artemisa, treated in the Intensive Care Unit, with severe head trauma,” said journalist José Miguel Solís on his social networks. .
In addition to the minor in serious condition, two other minors were hospitalized, although their lives are not in danger.
“In that care center, the infants, Estefany González Villa thousand, 13 years old, in the orthopedics room, and Harly Romero Cruz, seven years old, also remain out of danger.”
Photos shared online show that the passenger vehicle ended up embedded in the tanker, suggesting that the tanker was traveling at high speed. The cabin of the passenger transport vehicle was completely destroyed, so it is presumed that the deceased were traveling in this part.
Traffic accidents have become one of the most common causes of death on the Island, a situation that worsens when taking into account the fuel and transportation crises, which forces many citizens to travel en masse aboard cargo trucks. .
When one of these vehicles has an accident, the number of injured and deceased is usually high.
According to official figures, more than 200 people lost their lives in a traffic accident during the first five months of the year, while more than 4,000 people ended up injured.
