At least ten people were killed and ten injured in a shooting in a Los Angeles suburb on Saturday evening (local time). The police are speaking, according to the news agency AP about a mass shooting after a celebration of the Asian New Year (Lunar New Year).
According to the police, it is a male shooter who is still on the run. He allegedly opened fire in a dance hall in Monterey Park. Whether he has a racist motive is not yet clear at this time.
On social media, images can be seen of paramedics tending to the injured and officers shielding the scene of the shooting.
At least ten injured people have been taken to various hospitals in the region, according to the police. Several people are in critical condition.
A large Asian New Year party was held at that location earlier in the day. Thousands of visitors came to see it.
