At least one dead in shock and raging fire on I-85

At least one person has died in the fire of a truck on Interstate 85 (I-85) in Gwinnett County, in Georgia, this Saturday.

Police said one person died in a fire that blocked all traffic on Interstate 85 in both directions, near the Gwinnett-DeKalb County border, between Pleasantdale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard. And the access road seems to be affected too, he reported 11 Alive.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) cameras show a huge fire, but fire crews are already on the scene. Gwinnett police said the massive fire was caused by an accident between several vehicles.

According to GDOT, a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles collided, causing the accident. They said the truck with a trailer and one of the other vehicles overturned.

According to authorities, the companies on Dawson Boulevard and Crescent Drive in the area are being evacuated.

Motorists are advised to avoid the aforementioned area in Gwinnett. Police are diverting traffic north of I-85 on I-285. Southbound traffic is diverting on Beaver Ruin Road.

Its best alternatives to I-85 are Buford Highway and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard west of I-85 and Lawrenceville Highway southeast of I-85.

The southbound security routes extend to Georgia 316. The northbound backup routes begin near Shallowford Road within the perimeter.
