At least eight people have died and many are injured after chaos erupted at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, USA.

Several representatives of local authorities in Houston, Texas confirm the deaths Saturday morning, Norwegian time.
The accident happened around 9 pm on Friday night local time. 17 people are said to have been transported to hospital, 11 of these with cardiac arrest.
The Astroworld Festival is hosted by rapper Travis Scott, and several major artists are on the program. Around 50,000 people attended the festival on Friday.
– There was panic.
According to the fire chief in the city, Sam Peña, the accident must have happened during a concert with Scott himself.
– The audience began to push themselves towards the stage, and panic arose, Peña said during a press briefing. Further panic must have arisen when several were injured and fainted.
The concert was canceled when it became clear what happened.
“We have at least eight confirmed deaths and several injured,” Peña said.
He added that medical personnel should investigate the causes of death of the deceased.

Houston police say they are investigating what led to the deaths of the eight concertgoers. Among other things, they examine video clips from the concert area.
– It is very important that there is no speculation about what happened. We do not have all the answers right now. We will investigate the incident and find out what happened, what caused the congestion, says police chief Troy Finner.
A hotel near the festival area serves as a reunion center for those who have not been able to get in touch with their near and dear ones who participated in the festival.
The Astroworld festival was to take place over two days with planned concerts on Friday and Saturday, and according to the organizers was sold out. Saturday’s concerts have been canceled.
