Health authorities in the Gaza Strip said that an Israeli bombardment left at least 30 people dead on Sunday (08/04/2024) in two schools in Gaza City.
The Israeli military confirmed the attack and said the two schools housed a command and control center for the Palestinian terrorist movement Hamas, which controls Gaza.
According to the enclave’s civil defense, an Israeli bombardment killed 10 people on Friday in another school in Gaza City, located in the north of the Strip.
Israel accuses Hamas of using civilian facilities as operations centres or to hide its commanders and fighters. The Palestinian movement denies these accusations.
The conflict erupted on October 7, when Islamist commandos killed 1,197 people in southern Israel, mostly civilians, and kidnapped 251, according to a count based on official Israeli data.
Israel estimates that 111 people remain captive in Gaza, although 39 of them are believed to have died.
