The case is being updated.
In February last year, more than 94 people were killed by floods and mudslides that swept away homes and cars in the city of Petropolis.
In connection with an increased number of floods and deaths due to heavy rainfall in the country, climate researcher Carlos Nobre has previously stated to TV 2 that the large amount of rain that has been observed in Brazil is due to global warming.
– We must expect that this type of phenomenon will become more and more common. That’s how the planet reacts. Evaporation from the sea is greater, and with more water vapor in the atmosphere, there is a greater probability of intense rain, said Nobre.
