At least eighteen people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in Tulkarm in the West Bank. This was reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The Israeli Air Force confirmed the attack with fighter planes.

According to the military, Hamas leader Zahi Yaser Abd al-Razeq Oufi was killed in the airstrikes. According to the military, Oufi was the head of the Hamas network in Tulkarm and responsible, among other things, for planning a car bomb attack last month. He is also said to have played a role in several attacks on Israeli civilians.

Israel carries out more frequent attacks on the West Bank, but they mostly use drones or helicopters. At least 573 Palestinian civilians have been killed since last October, according to figures from the UN agency OCHA.

In July of this year, the International Court of Justice ruled independent advice establish that Israel’s presence in the West Bank is in violation of international law. According to the court, Israel was also guilty of racial segregation and apartheid.
