At least 14 shot dead in New York City over Thanksgiving holiday as gun violence rises 102%

At least eleven New Yorkers were gunned down on Black Friday and three on Thanksgiving Day as gun violence continued to disrupt the city over the holiday weekend.

The summer crime spree that hit New York City passed in the fall when a Black Friday filming took place at 6:10 p.m. in the Bronx.

The New York Post reports that this row erupted in the Bronx, where a 44-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Barnabas Hospital.

The victim of the shooting had to survive.

Two men, both 28, were shot 40 minutes later while standing outside residential apartments at 25 Tennis Court.

The Post reports that the shooter escaped the scene in a black Grand Cherokee as authorities rushed there.

One victim was shot in the forearm and hip, while the second victim was shot in the foot. They were taken to Kings County Hospital to treat their injuries.

At 7 p.m., a shooting victim entered Staten Island University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Post reports that the victim claimed to have been shot near Park Hill Avenue, but they did not cooperate with authorities.

Almost 90 minutes later, on Black Friday, a Brooklyn man entered Brookdale Hospital at 8:26 p.m. after being punched.

He claimed to have been shot near a residence at 417 East 55th Street. His injuries would not have been fatal.

An argument in Brooklyn resulted in a 40-year-old being shot in the leg at around 10:35 p.m., The Post reports. The individual was taken to Kings County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 30-year-old suspect fled the area.

Five minutes later, a man standing at East 42nd Street and Lenox Road in Brooklyn was struck. The 40-year-old is said to have failed to cooperate with the police.

A 32-year-old man was punched in the ankle around 11:45 p.m., The Post reports, after a man opened fire on a group of people in Manhattan.

The suspect fled the scene. The victim was taken to Cornell Hospital by private means for treatment.

Additionally, a 24-year-old Brooklyn man was shot in the leg at 4 a.m. and a 28-year-old man suffered a similar injury on Friday at 2 p.m.

The last Thanksgiving weekend shoot was taped in Queens, where emergency crews were dispatched at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday. No other details were disclosed.

On Thanksgiving Day, at least three residents suffered gun violence.

The Post reports that a 25-year-old Bronx man was shot in the groin during an argument at 11:50 p.m. He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center.

In Crown Heights, a resident was shot in the stomach and one in the leg just before 6 p.m. The details of this shoot are unclear.

And a man walking around Harlem at Thanksgiving was shot and taken to Cornell Hospital.

A teenage girl told the Post she was with the 28-year-old victim at the time of the shooting, but police said the man was alone.

None of the victims of the New York shooting died of their injuries.

DailyMail.com has contacted the New York Police Department for comment.

Crime data shared by the NYPD showed the rising crime rate, which included 1,714 gunshot victims and 1,395 separate incidents.

As of November 22, NYPD Compstat reported 1,704 gunshot victims compared to 840 recorded in the same time last year. That’s a 102.9% increase.

Shooting has increased 95.8% so far this year with 1,386 shootings, up from 708 in November 2019.

The murder rate increased 36.8% with 112 more victims in November 2020 than in November 2019.
