Hiroki Tsunoda (RB Formula 1) is expected to drive a Red Bull RB20 in a tire test to be held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi after the 2024 season. This was announced by Red Bull representative Christian Horner.

Hiroki Tsunoda has been better than his teammates since last year, but Red Bull is reluctant to promote him, and the last time he had the chance to drive a Red Bull car was last month​​​​ in Taiwan, it only ran twice, once at a promotional event and once at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, both of which were just demo runs.

However, after receiving support from Honda, who will be their engine supplier until the end of 2025, it has been decided that the team will conduct their first full-scale test in Abu Dhabi during the post-season.

Speaking after FP1 of the Mexican F1 Grand Prix, where Yuki Tsunoda finished third ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Horner said, “Obviously, Yuki is a member of the young team, and we have talk to Honda.”

“He will test the car at the end of the tire test season. This has been agreed for some time.

“I would like to give him the opportunity to work with the engineers at Red Bull Racing and see how he performs in the Red Bull car.”

Sergio Perez is under contract with Red Bull until the end of 2026, but both Horner and Red Bull motorsport adviser Helmut Marko have not ruled out another for 2025.

It has already been announced that Hiroki Tsunoda will stay at RB in 2025, but his contract with RB is only with Red Bull, and depending on the situation, it is possible that he will work with Verstappen next year .

Referring to the deal, Horner said that “at this stage” Perez will continue to drive​​​​for Red Bull next season, but added: “We have a lot of plans, together with Laurent (Mekies , RB team principal) and Peter (Beyer, CEO. of RB), “The advantage is that we have time to consider our options.”
