At last they punished the ERPs – Pogled Info –

/ world today news/ We will collect evidence that will not fall in court, Evgenia Kharitonova waved her finger

More than two months after the end of street protests caused by high electricity bills, the three electricity distribution companies (EPCs) in Bulgaria may finally be held accountable for unfair practices towards their customers. This became clear during today’s briefing by the chairman of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (SECWR) Evgenia Kharitonova.

According to her, tomorrow the regulator will accept the audit report from the inspections of the ERPs. A preliminary review of the 235-page document indicates that additional inspections will certainly be assigned on some issues.

“However, it is moving in the direction of imposing sanctions on the companies”, admitted the head of the SEWRC.

She explained that if someone’s license is revoked, then “someone has to buy the electricity distribution network in the relevant region of the country.”

“The issue of revoking the licenses of electricity distribution companies is sufficiently complicated and aggravating the Bulgarian people,” she admitted.

The Chairman of the CEWR addressed the three ERPs in Bulgaria, urging them “to be so good as to work well in our country as well”. “If they don’t work well in our country, let them suffer the penalties.” However, to bear them in such a way that the charges do not fall in court”, said Haritonova.

She expressed the hope that the CESVR will receive the support of the 42nd National Assembly in the future, since the necessary changes in the energy sector also require changes in some laws and regulations.

“Problems of energy are problems of the whole society”, reminded the chairman of the regulator.

According to her words, household consumers should no longer suffer the consequences of some unwise decisions of the past. “A long-term contract for green energy at a high price is an example of an unreasonable decision”, Kharitonova was categorical.

According to her, the situation is the same with the American thermal power plants “Maritsa” 1 and 3. “The long-term contracts of “Maritsa Iztok 1″, as well as the quota for green additives, are examples of unreasonable decisions from the past”, Kharitonova emphasized. She clarified that the problem is not the existence of “Maritsa Iztok 1” in particular, but the “signing of long-term contracts” – she obviously means the purchase of electricity at fixed prices.
