Sony has just presented an interesting device with which we will be able to have Android Auto y Apple CarPlay in cars that didn’t have it; that is, above all, in vehicles ‘not so modern’ That may have come with a touch screen from the factory, but not as advanced as the current ones. It is a touch screen of 6.95 inch and with double DIN connector that is priced at 300 euros, much more affordable than those released to date.
We have been using touchscreens in our cars for many years, but it was not until recently that they were imposed Android Auto y Apple CarPlay. And the truth is that they are an authentic wonder. This device that Sony has presented, which is called Sony XAV-AX3200, it fits in our car by means of a double DIN connection, it is compatible with these two systems and has a 6.95 inch touch screen. It is also compatible with Bluetooth, obviously, it has a 1.5A USB port for charging our smartphone and incorporates a integrated amplifier four-channel to connect to our audio system.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in your car for only 300 euros, is it worth it?
Another interesting feature of this audio system, the Sony XAV-AX3200 it is in that it is compatible with parking cameras. That is, you can connect a rear view camera to park more easily and see correctly from the screen. It is a much more advanced model than the Sony XAV-AX1000, which has a 6.2-inch screen, and yet its price is not much higher –249 euros compared to 299 euros for the new model-. In fact, this slightly older model is only compatible with Apple CarPlay, but not with Android Auto.
With this, and many other previous releases, Sony has been the manufacturer that has bet on the strongest sistemas after-market so that drivers can have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in cars that did not have it at launch. Alpine also launched some interesting models, but at higher prices and with somewhat more limited features. This new model, the Sony XAV-AX3200, will be available for sale from December 2021, and at an approximate price of 300 euros.
The installation of this type of device is really simple. We just have to make sure that it is compatible with our vehicle, by the type of electronic connection. There are a kind of lock picks to extract the sound system that our vehicle has installed. Once extracted, we will only have to disconnect the cables and connect them, in exactly the same way, in our new sound system.
