Morning coffee may, in the future, leave a bitter taste to its fans. Not only do Arabica prices continue to climb to new heights, adding to the bill, but roasters are also considering turning more to Robusta, a less noble and less popular variety, to fill the lack of Arabica available.

In the US futures market, the Arabica pound has exceeded 2.40 dollars, unheard of in 10 years. Since the start of the year, prices have increased by 90%. With the takeover and reopening of coffee shops, demand for arabica is solid. But in front, the offer does not manage to follow. In Brazil, the world’s leading producer of this variety (60%), the harvest was particularly bad this year after a drought followed by an exceptional snowfall in the southern provinces.
