At Ena Bellemans Montti School they have an enriching meeting with Ana Carlota González – 2024-09-06 19:17:45

The writer, born in Rancagua and living in Ecuador, shared with First Grade students the incredible life experiences around writing and reading. In addition, she reviewed her works and answered various questions from the children present.

Enthusiastic students from 1st grade A, from the Ena Bellemans Montti School in Rancagua and guided by teacher María Pía Droguett, had the privilege of receiving the writer Ana Carlota González, author of the beloved children’s story “El Perrito Panzón”, among other works, in a pleasant space for meeting, learning and conversation. This cultural event had the support of the CRA managers, Rosa Neira and Fresia Gálvez, who work to promote reading in said educational community.

The children’s literature writer not only read her work, but also shared her biography and literary career, awakening the curiosity of the young readers from the very beginning. In addition, they had the opportunity to ask questions about her motivation to write and about the fascinating world behind her books, which are an essential part of the school’s reading plan. This, in essence, seeks to promote a lively and direct approach to literature, inspiring students to explore and value the art of storytelling. From the Rancagua establishment they assured that this session was more than a reading, “it was an open window to the heart of literary creation, where children were able to better understand the creative process and the inspirations behind the books they enjoy so much.” And they added from there that “on behalf of the Corporación Educacional Infantes de O’Higgins and the director Abigail Sánchez, we deeply thank Mrs. Ana Carlota González for giving us a day full of learning and magic, and our CRA team for facilitating these valuable meetings.”

Ana Carlota González was born in Rancagua, has also lived in Spain and the United States, and has lived in Ecuador since 1979. Today she is the author of almost thirty works aimed at children, some of which have received important national and international recognition, such as the Darío Guevara Mayorga National Prize for Children’s Literature, the IBBY Honor List, the Recommended Books list of the Banco del Libro de Venezuela, the recommended books list of the Cuatro Gatos Foundation in Miami, United States, and the White Ravens Honor List, awarded by the Children’s Library of the Youth of Munich, Germany. She was president of Girándula, IBBY Ecuador, and is an active writer and reading mediator. In addition to being a writer, she is a librarian, specializing in children’s libraries.
