Since September 15, 2021, the vaccination obligation has been in effect in health establishments, such as the hospital of Dieppe (Seine-Maritime): employees must present a complete vaccination schedule under penalty of having their employment contract suspended.
At the Caux-Maritime territory hospital group, only 10 people were suspended, out of the 2,700 employees in the structure. “These are 10 suspensions too many”, regrets Franck Estève, acting director general of the GHT.
“The goal was zero”
With a vaccination rate of 99.6%, the Dieppe hospital is nevertheless a good student. The other structures of the group, which coordinates the hospitals of Dieppe, Me and Saint-Valery-en-Caux as well as four Ehpad, show 100% of staff vaccinated.
“These 10 suspensions do not impact the continuity of care. They did not cause any closure of the bed, no deprogramming of operations or cancellation of consultations. “
But the director is not happy for all that: “I cannot say that I am satisfied: the objective was to be at zero suspension”.
Individualized follow-up
A system had been put in place upstream to accompany, inform and support staff in the process. The management of the hospital, if it regrets not having been able to convince even the last of its agents, could not however shirk the Law of 5 August 2021 relating to crisis management, which provides in its article 12 that the staff of health establishments “must be vaccinated, unless there is a recognized medical contraindication, against Covid-19”.
Otherwise, their activity must be suspended by the employer, with interruption of the payment of wages. Suspended staff can return to their post at any time if they present supporting documents indicating that they have started their vaccination.
At the Dieppe hospital, a regular individualized is offered to each suspended agent by occupational medicine.
The epidemic is receding
In Dieppe, the incidence rate is lower than the average: as of Monday, September 20, 2021, there are 29 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, over the last seven days.
Only four Covid-positive patients are currently hospitalized, including two in intensive care.
The beds in double rooms have reopened, making it possible to recover 34 beds that had been closed in obstetric surgery medicine and 12 beds in psychiatry.
In Seine-Maritime, 78% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine. That is four points more than the French average which is 74.2%.
