On Saturday, the beloved Uruguayan actor living in Chile, Walter Kliche, passed away at the age of 97. The information was confirmed during the afternoon by ChileActores.
The actor had a fruitful career in national soap operas during the 80s and 90s. In them he played leading roles that are remembered to this day. Among the most notable productions are: The Stepmother (1981), Family Secrets (1986), Bad Angel (1986), Wild Beach (1997), Alegre Hill (1999), among others.
“In Chile he built his life and built his family, sharing his artistic legacy with his son Fernando and his grandson Ignacio. Today we say goodbye to him with the respect and affection that a colleague in love with acting deserves.”, ChileActores said on its Instagram page.
Along the same lines of that message, Walter Kliche himself commented in October of last year about his life in Chile:
“I want to thank all of you, all the Chileans who welcomed me, who love me, who find me on the street and still remember me.“I came from Uruguay, I had never been to Chile and I was surprised by the kindness and affection. I am very grateful, I owe a lot to Chile,” he said at the time.
As reported in the same statement, The wake is taking place this weekend at the Church of Jesus of Nazareth, located at 797 Manuel Montt Street, Providencia. His remains will be cremated on Monday at the Parque del Recuerdo cemetery in Huechuraba.
