At 94, investment genius Warren Buffett donated $50 billion. – 2024-08-30 07:14:29

Yesterday his company Berkshire Hathaway received a capitalization of 1 trillion dollars

Today Warren Buffettcalled “The World’s Greatest Investor” and “The Yamaha Oracle,” becomes the 94 years old.

At this age, he has already sorted out who will receive his inheritance, although given the sure hand with which he runs Berkshire Hathaway, it will be some time before he passes the reins on to other hands. To date, he has donated more than $50 billion.

Buffett has written several times about his belief that in a market economy, the wealthy reap huge rewards for their talents. His children will not inherit a significant portion of his wealth. He once commented: “I want to give my kids enough to feel like they can do anything, but not so much that they wish they could do nothing”.

Just a day ago, global agencies announced that Buffett’s company has already reached a capitalization of 1 trillion dollars – an area in which high-tech titans Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft and Amazon are located.

62 years earlier, when he was 32, Buffett invested a small amount in Berkshire Hathaway, which at the time was a textile factory. Since then, he has gone through Himalayan highs and lows in investing as he carefully and pragmatically considers every move he makes.

In 2024 alone, Berkshire Hathaway’s stock has risen more than 27 percent.

Buffett’s success in choosing companies to invest in is legendary.

All investors, from the most inexperienced to the best, always respond to events where Warren Buffett is expected to speak. With a fully preserved mind, he can give original and profitable advice. Over the years, there has even been an announced “lunch with Buffett” auction. The sums ran to over $150,000 for this luncheon where the winning bidder could ask the great investor any questions he wanted and get his honest answers. The money from the auction, of course, went to charity.

Buffett is recognized by communicators as a great storyteller, as evidenced by his annual letters to shareholders.

In October 2008 USA Today reported that at least 47 books have been printed with Buffett’s name in the title. The article quoted Borders Books CEO George Jones as saying that the only other living people named in so many book titles were US presidents, world political figures and the Dalai Lama. Buffett said his personal favorite is a collection of his essays called The Essays of Warren Buffettwhich he describes as “a sequential rearrangement of ideas from my annual report letters.”

Warren Buffett had a plan to get “billionaires around the world to donate 50% of their wealth to charity or good causes.” On December 9, 2010, Buffett, Bill Gates, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg signed a pledge they called the “Gates-Buffett Giving Pledge” in which they promise to donate at least half of their wealth to charity and invite other wealthy people to follow their example.

In November 2022, Buffett donated $750 million in Berkshire Hathaway stock to four charitable foundations managed by his children. 1.5 million Class B shares of his conglomerate Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named after his first wife. He also transferred 300,000 Class B shares each to three funds managed by his children: the Sherwood Foundation, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and the NoVo Foundation.
