When she was being checked for a breach of the confinement rules, a septuagenarian from the city of Palm trees, in Hyères (Var), began to insult the police officers who verbalized her and to kicking in their vehicle, during the week of March 30.
The 75-year-old woman was not at her first attempt, and had already been checked several times without her exit certificate. She explained to the police that she refused to submit to containment because she believed that the Covid-19 epidemic was a sheer invention. “You are useless,” she said to the police.
Following the incident, she was taken to the police station to be heard and must respond to contempt and rebellion before the court, relate the newspaper Nice morning.
As a reminder, non-compliance with confinement measures is punishable by a fine of 135 euros, a penalty which can go up to 200 euros, in the event of a recurrence within 15 days.
