Sta 830 euros gross per month will be the new minimum wage from April 1, as announced by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his introductory presentation at the meeting of the Council of Ministers at Megaron Maximos.
Specifically, the “net” will amount to approx 705 euros for an employee without children, and will still carry three years and benefits.
Today, the minimum wage is 780 euros, i.e. 667 euros net. So, we are talking about a monthly salary increase to -about- 40 euros, the prime minister said.
Be that as it may, the increases are far from the rise in inflation and the cost of living given not only the accuracy in basic goods but also in energy, as well as in the cost of rent and housing.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during the presentation of the increase, chose to refer to the image presented by the government during the no-confidence debate, considering “how it gave many answers”.
SYRIZA – “The minimum wage is lower than society’s needs”:
“The minimum wage is lower than society’s needs” Giorgos Gavrilos, Member of Parliament and Head of Labor and Social Security of the SYRIZA PS, says in his announcement. And he adds:
“A few days ago, the Government had advertised the increase in the minimum wage, trying to change the negative agenda that had been formed against it. In the end, the die was cast at 830 euros gross, a little over 700, net for 600,000 employees, when the total number of employees in the private sector is approximately 2.5 million.
The increase that the government staff is boasting about is around 6.4%, with inflation from 2019 to date having increased by 15%, the purchasing power of Greeks being at -33%, penultimate in Europe of 27, and food inflation to have exceeded 6%.
The harsh reality that the Government refuses to admit is that every increase that has been announced is “swallowed” by the wave of accuracy and overpricing, leaving households vulnerable to daily needs and obligations and even leading to the loss of two minimum wages per year.
SYRIZA-PS requests an increase in the minimum wage, at least to 900 euros. Reinstating collective bargaining and boldly raising the average wage to address the ongoing impoverishment of workers and society.
Faced with a Government that exploits the impasses of workers and announces “band-aids” for the traumas they have caused to the social fabric, its policies need an immediate response to the implementation of measures to support the world of work, so as to put an end to the depreciation and to impoverishment.”
