The singer Emmanuelle, whose real name is Emmanuelle Mottaz, known in the 1980s for the hits First Kiss et Just you to put me to sleep, is dead. She was 59 years old.
Jean-Luc Azoulay, creator of the sitcom First Kiss in the 1990s, the news broke Tuesday night on Facebook. “Emmanuelle has left us. Immense sadness. She will remain forever in our hearts,” he wrote. According to the producer, she died on March 16 in a Paris hospital.
“She had been in fragile health for some time. She was a real artist, a wonderful girl,” the producer told AFP. “We are very sad.”
The host Dorothée also reacted to the disappearance of the singer on Twitter: “Very saddened by the departure of Emmanuelle…”
Born on July 19, 1963 in Paris, Emmanuelle Mottaz began her career in 1985, performing for her friend Dorothée the robotic choirs of the tube Hello Hello Mr Computer.
