Passionate about cycling, Thibaud Fougereuse has just launched his own bicycle brand, “Pybex”. Enough to earn the French Tech Adour Pyrénées award.
The first “Pybex” models will not leave his production workshop located in the Arsenal district, in Tarbes, until the beginning of 2023, but already Thibaud Fougereuse can boast the Prize awarded to him by the French Tech Pyrénées Adour awarded in the “Young Business” category at its innovation and energy transition forum, “Innov’Adour”, last week in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. A great encouragement for this young bigourdan who, at just 22, decided to start a business, combining his passion for cycling, his know-how in bicycle design and his entrepreneurial ambition.
From student to entrepreneur, a high-speed ascent
With the “push” of Covid that he has been able to put to his advantage.
“I did my work-study program at Milc before joining Syphax. And then there was confinement… I am a cyclist myself, and already working in bicycle design, I was faced with a shortage of spare parts during the Covid. Most bicycle brands were in trouble because they were dependent on Asian markets while, at the same time, the demand for bicycles soared.I took the opportunity to create a “Made in Pyrénées” remember the man who, after his DUT in mechanical engineering in Tarbes and a degree in innovation and prototyping, naturally turned to bicycle design. And the least we can say is that he quickly put the extra gear.
Having matured his vision, the former employee took the plunge and the current entrepreneur is now proud to present his range of bicycles aimed at purists.
“I worked for a year and a half on the concept and if only a few prototypes exist to date, three models will be available from January, two enduro mountain bikes and one long-distance road bike,” explains the winner of the French competition Tecnologia Pyrenees Adore .
An innovative suspension system
“When I started this project I was in contact with Bic Crescendo who then directed me to French Tech and who helped me a lot, especially in networking for me,” he confides. A well-deserved place in the partnership for Thibaud, who is not satisfied with simply assembling parts.
“I make the frame myself, in steel because it’s lighter and more flexible than aluminium. I offer it in standard sizes (S, M, L, XL) or made to measure, according to the customer’s choice”, he explains.
And at Pybex, it’s not just the frame that’s custom made. “All bikes are fully customizable. Plus, the price varies depending on what you put on them,” he says. But the best thing is to equip it with the suspension system that Thibaud Fougereuse invented himself. To discover on www.pybex-cycles.com and on social networks.
