At 16, Louis Alexandre presents his first film, 180 Days, at the Chartres cinema, this Thursday evening

“It is an immense source of pride and the greatest achievement of my life and youth. Final preparations at the Les Enfants du Paradis cinema in Chartres, where the first film by Louis Alexandre, 180 daysis about to be projected.

After a year of work, Silvia-Monfort’s high school student, in Luisant, will present his film in front of a sold out crowd – 416 people – of the Chartrain cinema, with, however, a pinch of stress. “I picked up the film on Tuesday in Paris before taking it to the cinema to prepare it for screening,” explains Louis. “We are doing the tests and I really hope everything works well on Thursday night. »

Harassment, the subject of the first film by a Chartres schoolboy

If obtaining all the authorizations and making his film hasn’t always been easy, today it is the culmination of a project that was particularly close to his heart. “After having experiences as an actor, I wanted to create my own film, actually direct the project and see things from the other side of the camera,” smiles the high school student.

School pressure and bullying

And the choice of a theme that echoes current events. Through the character of Gabriel, 180 days addresses the topic of pressure and bullying, particularly important issues to raise, according to him. “I wanted to talk about a current topic, and pressure from school, hence harassment, is a serious topic that needs to be talked about,” cautions Louis.

“With the passage of Covid, there has been even more pressure on young people, in terms of exams, grades… It is important to show that this exists. »

Accompanied by a team of about twenty people, including professionals, Louis Alexandre carried out his project within the premises of his former establishment, the Jean-Moulin college, in Chartres. “We were initially looking for a school in Paris, but since it was complicated, I thought it would be much better to shoot this film in my factory. Carrying it forward is a source of pride”, confides Chartrain.

School harassment: 180 days, the first film by Louis Alexandre, 16, premiered in Chartres

A pride shared by the principal of the college, David Elleaume, who followed all the progress of the film for several months: “Louis was a professional, already at 15 years old. He is a very surprising young man who has had this taste for cinema for several years and it was felt during his schooling. »

His favorite movie“It might not be my favorite movie, but I recently went to see November and this movie really stood out to me. In my film I wanted to pay homage to the victims of school bullying, those who are no longer there. A bit like November does for all the victims of the attacks. »
His favorite actor/actress “Omar Sy, without hesitation. He fought and managed to stand out. I really admire the person, he’s a good person, but I also really admire the actor. »
The first film he saw at the cinema “I don’t remember the title of the film… But it was a Disney® (laughs). I’ve always been attracted to cinema, since I was a child, it struck me and it’s also what made me want to try my adventure first as an actor, then as a director. »
His dream as a director “I want to act with the biggest names in French cinema. Thanks to 180 days I acted with actors and actresses that I admired when I saw them on TV. Why not, one day, share the poster with Omar Sy…”

His young age, Louis Alexandre even ended up making it a strong point. “It wasn’t always easy to be taken seriously at 15,” recalls the high school student.

“It’s not easy to be heard and to convince people that it’s not just a project between friends, but we succeeded. Finally, there is no age to be ambitious. »

“To do this job you absolutely have to persevere”

However, his dream of cinema does not prevent him from being lucid about the reality of the career he wishes to pursue. “It’s not easy to start, it’s a very uncertain job and even at 16 I realize it”, analyzes Louis Alexandre.

Louis Alexandre, 15, shoots his film on the streets of Chartres

And even if they know it, the path won’t always be easy, those who have chosen to do the theater option in high school don’t intend to give up. “To do this job and make a living out of it, you have to persevere and that’s what I will continue to do. »

The summary. At 16 Gabriel is about to enter second. His mother, a cleaning lady, wants to enroll him in a prestigious private high school, where he won’t feel up to it. The young high school student will be under great pressure.
