It all started at Saint-Hellier primary school for Maël Barrière. (©The Awakening of Neufchâtel)
Tuesday, July 5, the results fall to the high school of Neufchatel-en-Bray , as elsewhere. Maël Barrière, young resident of Saint-Hellier (Seine-Maritime) 16-year-old learns that he got his baccalaureate English European section with honors.
A pride for his parents. Especially since their son also passed the entrance exams for Sciences Po Paris .
A bilingual program
It is on the campus of Reims (Marne), where he will follow the bilingual program on transatlantic relations between Europe and North America, which he has decided to settle down. A new adventure that he approaches with serenity.
And yet, this neo-bachelor did not always plan to go to a Political Science course.
At first, I thought I would go to a music school or a preparatory school, says Maël Barrière. And it was during my final year that I was suggested to join the Sciences Po high school workshop.
It was therefore three months after the start of the workshop that Maël embarked on this universe, which he immediately liked.
I enjoyed political science, geopolitics. And I liked this link with the news . Work on concrete things. This is a workshop that allowed us to better understand current events.
For this young Saint-Elerien, it all started in the school of his commune. “And it was lucky for me,” he says. An education that he will continue in the college of Saint-Saëns then at the general high school of Neufchâtel-en-Bray “where there is very good support, very good teachers, benevolent”, underlines Maël. A point recognized by his parents.
A new stage approached with serenity
Sciences Po Paris, Maël did not necessarily believe in it. “But I succeeded in the written and oral exams and I got the campus I wanted,” he says humbly.

Humility and serenity, two words that characterize this young man, who does not apprehend this new deadline.
We know that he is mature enough for that, even if of course, as parents, at 16, we are always a little afraid to let go of our child and that we apprehend how everyday life is going to be. But we remain calm.
His young age, “a difference that I never felt during my schooling. I never had the impression of being the one who was two years younger”, recognizes Maël.
And the holidays of the young Saint-Elerien began with a week of refresher courses before entering Sciences Po.
I also find that it is a good thing that is necessary to arrive with the same level as the other students.
After registering, Maël enjoys his vacation before starting a new adventure.
