Good oral health is more than just having healthy teeth. This is underlined by the World Health Organization which highlights how it is in fact a condition that strongly influences the whole state of health and well-being of the person.
Cable diseases are of different types and can be determined by distinct causes. Among the most common we have: caries, which can cause toothaches of different entities, plaque formation, gingivitis and periodontitis and traumatic and/or inflammatory mucosal lesions.
Among the main causes of dental problems, but more generally of the mouth, we find poor hygiene and incorrect nutrition. There are applicable preventive actions such as: taking good care of your teeth and gums, brushing and flossing your teeth, limiting the use of alcohol and avoiding tobacco consumption. The latter, in addition to all other health risks, increases the risk (up to seven times more) of developing gum disease than non-smokers.
The talk “15 minutes with…” is edited by Aou Cagliari News, the newspaper of the university hospital. An agile and simple format, it includes 15 minutes of discussions with specialists and the possibility for the public to ask questions live.
