At 12 o’clock to give birth without knowing … that she was pregnant

A young woman from Candiac who arrived in the emergency room in pain without knowing why came out the next day with an adorable but completely unexpected healthy 3.5 kilo baby.

“We didn’t even have 12 hours to mentally prepare! »Exclaims Julie Le François, who is still recovering from her emotions almost three weeks after the birth of little Liam.

On June 19, the 25-year-old woman went to Anna-Laberge hospital in Montérégie due to intense cramps and inexplicable vomiting.

Surprise: after a blood test, the doctor tells her that she is pregnant.

Pregnant? Still, she was kayaking in a bikini no later than the previous weekend without her friends noticing anything. No nausea, no kicking in the stomach to report in the last few months either.

“I was in my week and I continued to buy a box of tampons each month,” she insists.

However, an examination reveals a few minutes later that her pregnancy is at term and that she will give birth in a few hours.

A baby dog for now

A feeling of panic overwhelmed him.

Her husband, Justin Blais, 28, arrives shortly after to reassure her and collects the news in turn.

“A child, it was planned rather in two or three years … for the moment, we wanted a baby dog”, remembers the couple together for six years.

The surprise is also total for future grandparents, who embark on a shopping spree: diapers, clothes, changing table, transport shell …

A campaign on GoFundMe is launched to fund unexpected expenses.

Baby Liam finally shows up at 2:24 a.m. Sunday morning, healthy, even though his mother had had a few drinks during her pregnancy.

Incredible but true

“We had so much moral support,” says the grateful young mother, who sometimes still finds it hard to believe that she has been pregnant for 37 weeks without realizing it.

“Everyone tells us, ‘ah, I thought we were just seeing this on TV,’” says new dad Justin Blais, who started his welding business the week before giving birth.

“Even I was watching the show Pregnant without knowing it and I always said to myself that it was impossible, ”assures Julie Le François.

Gynecologist and obstetrician Guylaine Asselin points out that denial of pregnancy sometimes occurs in some women who imagine that these nine months are necessarily synonymous with nausea, major weight gain or mood swings.

“And the human subconscious is good at ignoring all kinds of symptoms,” adds the specialist, who has seen fifteen cases of this kind in her career.

However, many of the women she questioned subsequently admitted to having had a hint of lucidity during their pregnancy, before reassuring themselves, for example, with the continuation of their periods.

Julie Le François, for her part, recalls a mysterious drop in pressure in November.

“At the same time, I tell myself that if my other pregnancies are like this one, so much the better! »Says the banking technical advisor newly on maternity leave.
