A real turning point for Serie A. From next season, in fact, the second round will not follow the classic calendar but will be asymmetrical. This was confirmed today by the Lega Assembly by unanimously voting for the change.
In a official note of the Lega Calcio Serie A, it is read: “The League Council, held this morning, unanimously established that the Serie A TIM calendar will have a second round asymmetrical in the sequence of days compared to the first round.

Asymmetrical second round in Serie A: what changes
The new format, already in force in other leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga and Ligue1, will have a particular novelty compared to the other nations that have adopted it, with the return matches totally different from the first leg, both in order and in composition within the same turn.
The new formula will allow a better distribution of matches, not conditioned in this way by constraints present in the first leg that can fall on the same day of the return trip and vice versa. The only criterion imposed on the draw will be that a match will not have its return before 8 more matches have been played.”.
