Interruption of asylum mediation: more than 1,000 employees go on strike on Monday

On Saturday night there was a violation of the agreement for employees of private nurseries. As a result, 1,007 employees in 112 private daycare centers go on strike on Monday.

Delta employee organization reports.

– The distance was too great between the parties, Trond Ellefsen tells NRK, Delta’s first vice president and negotiator in mediation.

Delta, Fagforbundet and Uddanningsforbundet are united on requests, but have failed to find a solution with the Riksmekleren. The dispute concerns two points relating to pensions:

Under previous protocols, all employees of PBL daycare centers must be enrolled in the Joint Scheme for AFP by January 1, 2023 at the latest.

Employees of PBL daycare centers currently pay a higher deductible for pensions than employees of other private and municipal daycare centers.

– We are very disappointed that the employer does not keep his promise to introduce permanent AFP for our members in private daycare centers, as municipal and other private daycare centers have done. This is a strike that PBL must take full responsibility for, says a collective employee site.

PBL CEO Jørn-Tommy Schjelderup describes it as “surprising and very regrettable” that unions are going on strike after making “totally unrealistic demands”, the PBL website reads.

A total of 1,007 employees in 112 crèches in Oslo, Østfold, Trøndelag and Vestlandet are covered by the strike of the Trade Union, the Education Association and Delta.

– We are disappointed because we hoped to find a solution. It’s sad to have to go on strike, which will affect a third party, Ellingsen tells NRK.
