Four matches of the 5th day of Betclic Elite took place this Tuesday, and they notably saw ASVEL lose in St-Quentin and Monaco beat Dijon.

Last week, St-Quentin was on the verge of winning in Monaco, but Mike James passed by and crucified the promoted player. However, the Picards raised their heads by offering themselves the other big name of the Betclic Elite, ASVEL. St-Quentin crushed TJ Parker’s team with a score of 91-71 and finds itself with a balanced record of two wins for two losses since the start of the season. The Picards got off to a perfect start to the match by winning the first quarter 31-15, and ASVEL, who had rested Nando De Colo, never recovered. The Villeurbannais managed to come back to -8 at the end of the second quarter, before conceding an 8-0 before the break (51-35, mt). St-Quentin widened the gap again after the restart (74-50, 30th) before loosening the grip at the end of the match, once victory had been achieved. Nate Johnson finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the Picards, while no Villeurbanne reached 15 points, Mbaye Ndiaye settling for 14. Two days before the Euroleague kicks off on Thursday on the floor of the Etoile Rouge, there is already concern at ASVEL.

Okobo and Cornelie carry Monaco

On the other hand, everything is going well in Monaco, the only undefeated team in the championship with Paris and Cholet. The Roca Team crushed Dijon (one victory for four defeats for the JDA) by winning 88-74 at Gaston-Médecin. ASM led from start to finish in this match, starting with a 22-15 in the first quarter, before conceding an 8-0 in the second, which did not prevent them from returning to the locker room in leading 42-34. The Burgundians experienced a black hole in the third quarter, conceding a 14-0 which proved crippling (65-47). Dijon were never able to come back and lost in the end by fourteen points, despite Gregor Hrovat’s 20 points. Elie Okobo scored 19 points for Monaco and Petr Cornelie 17, while Mike James was not having a great day (7pts to 2/9 on shots). There is no doubt that he will be more motivated on Friday in Valencia in the Euroleague.

Strasbourg and Gravelines in the tough

Back in its Rhénus, after spending last week in Turkey to brilliantly secure its ticket for the Champions League, Strasbourg fell from a height, losing heavily against Bourg-en-Bresse: 65-83. After holding on for a quarter, the SIG took on water in the second (34-43) and drowned a little more on the restart by conceding a 12-0. The Burgiens calmly managed their lead, even if the Alsatians returned to -10 in the middle of the last quarter. Maksim Salash greatly contributed to this success with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the JL, which has four victories in five games. Opposite, Chaundee Brown’s 16 points were not enough for Strasbourg, who only won one of their three games. Finally, Limoges won its third victory in five matches, against Gravelines-Dunkerque which has still not won: 79-83. The CSP won the first quarter 15-18 then led 42-47 at halftime, before conceding a 15-2 in the third which allowed the BCM to lead 59-51. Limoges got back in front at the start of the last quarter, then Gravelines led 74-73, before cracking in the money-time, conceding a 10-5. Nicolas Lang finished with 19 points and 7 assists for CSP and Johnny Berhanemeskel with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for BCM.
