Asus showcases glasses-free 3D in high-end laptop

When manufacturers from the tech world gathered at CES a decade ago, a majority agreed that home 3D was the next big thing – a must-have for every television and even computer monitor. This belief was quickly dismissed, but when Asus now launches one of the most lavish laptops, it is also the resurgence of the 3D display.

The computer in question is the Proart Studiobook 16 3D OLED, where half of the cool thing about the device is already revealed in the name. It is a notebook aimed at the creative professions, with a large 16-inch color-correct OLED screen in 16:10 format, with 3,200×2,000 pixels and 120Hz. The screen is accompanied by the new worst thing processor Core i9-13980HK and the upper mid-range Geforce RTX 4070 with 8GB of graphics memory. Up to 8TB of SSD storage and 64GB of main memory are also available.

Alongside the best specs, obviously the 3D feature of the screen is the most outstanding detail, and it’s a feature that doesn’t require glasses. Instead, a self-made solution called Spatial vision, which uses eye tracking and extra layers in front of the OLED panel, to display separate images for each eye. Of course, it is also possible to switch to a normal 2D experience. When SweClockers takes a closer look at the Las Vegas location, it works well.

Both the performance components and the special display are clear signs that the computer lands on the higher rungs of the price ladder, but the exact price level and launch time are unknown at the time of writing.
