The Asus ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro are the new smartphones gaming from Asus and further enhance the capabilities of the already powerful ROG Phone 5, which only recently we had the pleasure of testing.
The new pair of smartphones takes advantage of the arrival of the Snapdragon 888+ on the market to bring some improvements to the line and ensure that Asus continues to be the benchmark in the industry. Still, it takes advantage of a recipe that the public is already used to, turning these two smartphones into two “beasts” of the specifications.

Unlike the ROG Phone 5 line, we won’t have an Ultimate version of the S line. This doesn’t mean, however, that this is a less serious pair than the first. Especially considering that the Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro received a RAM upgrade, now having 18GB of LPDDR5 memory as well as 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Phone 5s Pro also brings the small OLED back screen, for a distinctive effect compared to any other handset on the market.
As for the Asus ROG Phone 5s, we have configurations of 8, 12 and 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM here, as well as 128 or 256GB of storage. On this smartphone there is no back screen, but we can find the logo Republic of Gamers illuminated.
The highlights of this pair go, however, to the processor and the screen. Starting with the first, here we are talking about the new Snapdragon 888+, an improved version of the Snapdragon 888. The improvements include an increase in the maximum frequency of the Cortex-X1 core, from 2.84 GHz to 3.00 GHz. AI Engine also registers a boost 20% in performance, now reaching 32 TOPS.
As for the screen, even though it maintains a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, with Full HD+ resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, it further improves the sensitivity and responsiveness for a latency of just 24.0 ms, with a touch sampling 360Hz. This screen achieves a maximum brightness of 800 nits and is HDR10+ certified.
As for the other specifications, we are in the presence of the same gigantic 6,000 mAh battery, charging 65W per cable, two USB 3.1 Gen2 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4 input and a 3.5mm audio jack input, for multimedia consumption the powerful stereo speaker system will also be relevant. Both hit the market running Android 11 and the ROG UI from the factory.
Let’s not forget that both versions of the Asus ROG Phone 5s come with a fingerprint reader built into the screen and the usual AirTrigger 5. And as for the cameras, we must mention that both have 64MP Sony IMX686 sensors as cameras which are accompanied by a 13MP wide angle (125° capture angle) and a 5MP macro camera. Already the camera of selfies it is a 24MP sensor.
Information on pricing and arrival in Europe is not yet known, but it is unlikely to vary much from current prices for the ROG Phone 5.
