At the end of January, ASUS ROG Phone 5 was hanging out at the TENAA telecommunications authority in China. The variant that appears at TENAA has the model number ASUS_I005DA. The latest ROG Phone 5 variant has now been spotted on TENAA, but has a slightly different design.
The new ROG Phone 5 variant that appears on TENAA has the model number ASUS_I005DB. This new model has a very plain look as it doesn’t seem to feature the RGB-lit ROG LED logo and the Tencent Games logo. This indicates that ASUS_I005DB might be the cheaper version.
The ASUS_I005DB back frame has curved edges. This device also has a horizontal camera module which is also supported by an LED flash LED unit. Most likely, the cheaper ROG Phone 5 is presented by ASUS to compete with the Black Shark 4 (PRS-A0) model, which also appears with a plain back design.
Regarding the dimensions, TENAA revealed that the ASUS_I005DB handset measures 172,834 x 77,252 x 10.29 mm. Meanwhile, the secondary screen found on the I005DA model is not visible on the I005DB variant. Yes! Earlier we saw that the ASUS_I005DA model is equipped with a second screen on the back.
TENAA did wrong to mention the main display size as 1.95 inches. This could be the second screen size. It is hoped that the ASUS ROG Phone 5 will have an OLED display with a size of 6.78 on the front. TENAA also mentions that the device will be equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery and will run on Android 11 OS.
Not a few doubts, to boost its performance, ASUS will immerse Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset in the ROG Phone 5. However, we have to see what chipset ASUS will immerse in the cheaper ROG Phone 5.
