ASUS ROG Ally: A Powerful Competitor to Steam Deck with AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Chip

During today’s online broadcast, the remaining details about the hardware and software equipment of the expected handheld were revealed ASUS ROG Allywhich happens an ambitious competitor to Steam Deck, which will also be available here in the Czech Republic. We already know the price tag and the launch date. But before that, let’s do a detailed recapitulation of the key parameters.

The ASUS ROG Ally is mainly attracted by its interior, namely the AMD Ryzen Z1 chip or even more powerful Z1 Extreme. That better piece boasts performance beyond game consoles, for which it deserves total credit eight processor cores using the Zen 4 architecture and a GPU with a computing power of 8.6 TFLOPs. If that wasn’t enough for you to play AAA games with the desired visuals, it will be possible to use the ROG XG Mobile kit with an external graphics card.

Another advantage of the handheld is support for various video game platforms. In the press release, the manufacturer also highlights the possibility of playing with more people, which will be useful, for example, during video game nights with friends. As for the price of the competing Steam Deck, Valve offers it to domestic users in the best configuration for 679 euros, which translates to almost 16,000 CZK. On the other hand, it offers significantly lower performance, worse display specifications and more complex compatibility with other gaming platforms than Steam.
