ASUS has introduced the GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition

ASUS has unveiled the GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition: a 4.3-slot cooler with a vapor chamber that reaches 61°C.

The ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition includes a pair of state-of-the-art Noctua NF-A12x25 fans to move air across a massive heat sink, co-developed with Noctua’s in-house thermal R&D team and engineers. These engineers worked tirelessly to fine-tune the fin density and heat sink placement, optimizing it for the airflow characteristics of the NF-A12x25. To prioritize low noise, a smooth acoustic signature, and high cooling efficiency, as well as make room for this pair of 120mm fans, the teams increased the overall volume of this card to occupy 4.3 slots. The board comes with a dual BIOS switch that has silent mode enabled by default to minimize acoustics right from the start.

The NF-A12x25 was an easy choice for this project due to the many innovations incorporated into its 120mm frame. The impeller, made from Noctua’s proprietary Sterrox liquid crystal polymer, has an exceptionally low coefficient of thermal expansion, which allows the fan blades to be spaced just 0.5 mm from the outer frame. This extremely tight tolerance allows the NF-A12x25 to work more effectively against back pressure by reducing airflow losses, ideal for a densely packed GPU fin stack. The metal-reinforced motor hub and shaft further maintain this extremely precise gap between the impeller and the frame.

Cooling consists of a large evaporation chamber with a network of eight heat pipes. Running on a GeForce RTX 4080 TDP of 320W, the ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition peaks at just 61.7°C with the same ultra-low noise as the GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua variants.
