This we did not expect. ASUS presented at CES at Officially licensed Xbox controller It has many interesting features that make it an extremely interesting alternative as a controller for Xbox. The reason? A striking and futuristic OLED screen and three connection profiles that you won’t want to miss out on playing with.
A controller with a screen
The proposition is, of course, surprising. It could not be outdone if we take into account that it is part of the ASUS Republic of Gamers range. The ROG Raikiri Pro it is an Xbox and PC compatible gamepad that has USB-C, Bluetooth and 2.4GHz RF connection (the official Xbox controller), making it a fully versatile controller that you can use with virtually any device.
It has the classic distribution of Xbox buttons and sticks, with the particularity of including four extra buttons at the bottom that are fully customizableas well as limit buttons for the triggers, with which to obtain a shorter and faster press.
What is the screen for?
While it’s purely aesthetic, the screen also offers some information that can be useful. A message with the percentage of charge will indicate how much battery is available in the device, and another message will warn us when the remote is trying to connect via Bluetooth, in addition to the fact that we will also enjoy suggestive animations that will give the remote a life of its own.
even with sound
Something that also caught our attention is this ROG Raikiki Pro hides an audio DAC inside which improves the sound, so if we connect the headphones to the 3.5mm port that it includes, we will get a noticeable improvement in audio.
Two models available
ASUS has announced that it will have two ROG Raikiri models available by then there is the Pro model and the “normal”. The differences are quite important, as the basic version does not have an OLED screen, can only be connected by cable and has 2 programmable buttons.
Unfortunately, we don’t have official prices for these new gamepads, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out exactly how much we’ll have to pay to have an OLED screen on our game controller.
