Asus broadens the screen range with Proart in 32: 9 format

Large, wide and curved screens are becoming increasingly popular with users of all kinds. Now Asus also unveils new screens in the Proart series, where the model PA147CDV clearly qualifies into the ultra-wide segment. However, the similarities with the more popular screen options end there, as the Asus Proart has an exciting dimension and aspect ratio to say the least.

The very wide screen is specified at an unusual 32: 9, which gives increased width. However, the height is significantly lower, as Proart is a portable variant that measures in at only 14 inches with a resolution of 1,920 × 550 pixels. The compact model is equipped with an IPS panel and also doubles as a touch screen, with support pens that use the Microsoft Pen 2.0 protocol.

As the design and name reveal, the screen is mainly aimed at more creative purposes and is intended to replace the mouse and keyboard in image processing and digital creation of various kinds. The touch screen is capable of sensing ten different touch points at the same time, which should be optimal for everything from spinning on color wheels to selecting tools and tinkering with settings.

Asus also boasts the screen’s built-in stand, the construction of which allows both different angles and a standing position. On the side there is also a knob to screw to the settings with more precision.

The screen is referred to as portable, something that is primarily presented from the perspective of size and connection possibilities. However, it has no built-in battery, but is powered externally via one of the two USB Type-C ports located on each side. For picture connection, HDMI 1.4 applies.

Like other Proart models, the screen is also delivered factory-calibrated and must handle 100 percent of the color spaces Rec. 709 and sRGB. However, no price or exact launch date is stated.

What would you use a very wide portable screen for?
