Asturias will begin to vaccinate young people between 20 and 29 years old “in no more than a week” | BE Gijón | Today for Today Gijón

Asturias will start vaccinate to the youths under 30 years of age in a week, a period in which inoculation among those aged 30 to 39 years will already be well advanced, according to the Minister of Health, Pablo Fernández, who has warned that the number of patients with coronavirus it continues to increase slowly but steadily in Asturian hospitals.

Until yesterday, 48% of the population aged 30 to 39 years had received a dose and more than 16% had already received the full regimen, while between 20 and 29 years only 14% had the first vaccine and 13 % with the two.

According to the counselor, there is a “great concern” because it is being seen that the coronavirus is affecting people who are less protected and who have not been vaccinated, something that has also been transferred among patients who are now admitted to hospitals, people that are around fifty years old on average and that in most cases have not been immunized against COVID-19. “The number of admitted increases slowly, but continuously, and there is a significant proportion of unvaccinated people,” the counselor said in statements to the press in which he recognized that in Asturias, fortunately, the refusal to inoculate “is being low”.

The agile rhythm of vaccination that is taking place in the Principality, which remains at the head of the country in terms of immunized (56% of the population) will help, according to the counselor, to the management of this new wave “that has started from so explosively “with a large increase in incidence, which has not been accompanied to the same extent in hospitalizations, which, however, will continue to increase in the coming days.

Fernández has acknowledged that they do not expect that these days will reduce infections, but quite the opposite, that they will continue to increase, mainly among the unvaccinated, so it is necessary to help there to be a change of inflection before they increase too much income by coronavirus. “We must be very careful at this time,” said the counselor before warning that “there is no doubt that the circulation and transmission of the virus is a reality”, which affects the least protected.
