Asturias rejects PP proposal on bluetongue vaccination compensation

OVIEDO, 3 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Plenary Session of the General Board of the Principality has rejected a non-law proposal from the PP that called for compensating all owners of livestock farms who assumed the costs of vaccination against bluetongue and urging the Executive to have as a maximum reference expense for determine the compensation set by the Department of Rural Environment and Agrarian Policy to the public company to which the entrustment has been made, avoiding an expense greater than that anticipated by the Department itself.

The initiative has been defended by deputy Luis Venta, and has only had the support of Vox and Foro. The ‘popular’ deputy has indicated that what is sought with it is only intended, on the one hand, for vaccination to be as broad as possible so that it reaches the greatest number of animals and, therefore, protect our livestock and, therefore, of course, that it is not harmful to our ranchers. “This is a problem of animal health, not of who performs the vaccine,” he said.

Luis Venta Cueli has warned that today “there are viruses, but no mosquitoes and there is no contagion, but within a month there will be mosquitoes and there will be viruses and, therefore, the risk of contagion will be present.”

“The Government spoke of a mandatory, free vaccination campaign in five months, but the truth is that uncertainty and chaos are taking over this campaign,” indicated the PP deputy.

The socialist deputy, Alba Álvarez, has replied to the PP to have “a little more seriousness and less political opportunism” and has reminded them that from the first moment the Government of Asturias announced that it would take charge of the vaccination campaign and designed a public and free campaign.

“The presence of bluetongue in Asturias entails high costs derived mainly from the cost of preventive vaccination of our entire cattle and sheep herd, which is why the current budgets include the corresponding items to meet these expenses, budgets that the PP did not support. What’s more, the PP presented amendments that proposed a reduction in the amount allocated to the purchase of bluetongue vaccines,” indicated the socialist, who wondered if what the ‘popular’ people intended was for there to be no campaign. public vaccination.

From Vox, Gonzalo Centeno has been very critical of the Government’s management and has stated that “this whole blue tongue problem is once again becoming gigantic because the Government acts late and poorly.”

“As always, once again propaganda and propaganda and while the cattle are unvaccinated and the ranchers are desperate,” the Vox deputy indicated.

The IU-Convocatoria por Asturias Group has considered the PP initiative “unnecessary and inconvenient”, since as its spokesperson Delia Campomanes recalled, the Government of Asturias, through the Ministry of Rural Affairs, has already started the campaign in a timely manner. free vaccination against bluetongue to protect 320,000 cows and 60,000 sheep.

“The initiative is inconvenient because what the PP intends is either to favor the privatization of these vaccination processes, or to delegitimize the activity of its own media, such as Tragsatec, which is the one who is developing the campaign, or both at the same time. My group does not share either that privatization desire of the right, nor that obsession that is always brought against the public,” Losa indicated.

From the Mixed Group, Covadonga Tomé has stated that his group considers that “there are technical and political reasons to say no to the PP proposal” and has explained some of those technical issues that in his opinion make this initiative unnecessary, such as the inconvenience of vaccinating when the mosquito is already present, among others.

“As for the political motive, this desire to always go against what is public and to the detriment of what is public is certainly annoying. Those who vaccinated ahead of time because they did not have confidence in a vaccination campaign were probably hasty,” the representative of the Mixed Group has indicated.

The other deputy of the Mixed Group, in this case for Foro Asturias, Adrián Pumares, has given his vote in favor of the initiative.
