Langreo taxis reduce their fleet to a quarter
The Langreo City Council has decided to reduce taxi services in the municipality by 75% as a result of the large drop in work in the sector caused by the health emergency and the mobility restrictions derived from it.
This measure is reflected in a resolution of the Mayor’s Office, which responds to a demand that the local organizations of the sector had transferred to the Consistory in separate letters, dated November 11 and 17.
The conditions to maintain 25% of the usual activity as minimum services are also established in accordance with a proposal from the representatives of the sector.
In order to adjust the activity to these provisional criteria, various decisions have been made, which have been detailed. On the one hand, weekly breaks are interrupted.
In addition, the taxis will work on alternate days (on even days those whose license number is also even and on odd days the rest).
The guards are kept on Sundays and holidays
As for night services, there will be no variation either: they will continue to run under the licenses that usually perform them.
The new conditions will be in place as long as the mobility limitations and curfew last.
When they cease to be in force, the City Council, in agreement with the organizations of the taxi sector, will assess the situation to publish another decree adjusted to this new situation.
The council of Langreo, together with Laviana and San Martín del Rey Aurelio, has also been affected by the perimeter confinements adopted by the Principality due to the high incidence rate of the coronavirus.
The three municipalities of Nalón joined Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés last Saturday, which were the first three municipalities closed perimeter.
In parallel, the Langreo City Council is already processing the granting of municipal aid to businesses and hotel establishments that have been economically affected by closures derived from the coronavirus pandemic.
