The Ministry of Health has detected the first coronavirus outbreak that is produced since the end of February in a residence for the elderly, specifically in Langreo, with eight affected. One of them has specified hospitalization and the rest are asymptomatic. It so happens that residents and workers were vaccinated with both doses. In fact, the Executive of Barbón ended the vaccination on January 8.
Likewise, between March 23 and 29, other 13 positives in eleven social and health centers of the 270 that exist in Asturias. Health authorities intervene in residences as soon as a first contagion is detected.
In the same period, there were seven deaths of people with a positive PCR result whose address was a residential center for the elderly: two in Gijón and one in Oviedo, Castrillón, Quirós, Laviana, Carreño and Siero.
The regional government presented in mid-March a de-escalation plan for the facilities. It consists of three phases, but it will not start at least until after Easter, as announced a few days ago by the Asturian Executive.
