Summary from the book “Science in the Koran” by Nadiah Thayyarah explained, if astronomical studies have shown that the Moon is constantly moving away from the Earth.
Astronomers say that the Moon, which is 300,000 kilometers from Earth, continues to move away, where it moves 3 centimeters per year.
This moving away will one day bring the Moon to the area affected by the Sun’s gravitational field. This will cause the Moon to explode on the Sun’s surface.
The phenomenon is entirely in line with the Koranic verse which states:
And the sun and the moon joined
Meaning: “And the sun and the moon are gathered”. (Surat al-Qiyamah: 9)
Meanwhile, a study shows that the Moon formed 4.6 million years ago. During its formation, the Moon received a barrage of hits from meteors and meteoroids.
Due to the very high temperature of the Moon at that time, there was a tremendous melting on the surface of the Moon, causing the formation of large holes called ‘Maria’ and high mountains with craters called ‘Craters’.
Then the craters poured lava in large volumes and the lahars filled the large holes. The mountains on the moon went dormant and the lava stopped flowing. Thus, the Moon died.
Before humans knew the Moon had initially shone, then died, the holy book of the Quran, revealed about 14 centuries ago, revealed this. As the word of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala in Sura Al Isra verse 12:
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَا آيَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَا آيَةَ النَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِتَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ تَفْصِيلًا
Meaning: “And we made two signs of night and day, then we took away the sign of night and made the sign of the day shine, so that you may ask your Lord for grace, and so that you may know the number of years and the showdown. And we have explained everything clearly. ” (QS Al Isra: 12)
This verse shows the existence of a scientific fact that became known to people only in the 20th century, namely that the Moon was originally a flaming celestial body.
