Astronomical Society: Watch for Saturn’s encounter with Earth.. next Sunday

Engineer Majed Abu Zahira, President of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, said that Saturn will reach the meeting point with the sun in the Earth’s sky next Sunday, which is the best time to observe and photograph the planet and its moons.

Abu Zahira added that the meeting represents the best time of the year to see Saturn, given that the Earth is closer to the planet by about 300 million kilometers because they are on the same side of the sun compared to when the planet is in the solar conjunction, but even when Saturn is at its closest point to the Earth, It will appear as a point of light only, resembling stars to the naked eye.

Saturn will appear larger and brighter when seen through a telescope

The planet Saturn will be observed above the southeast horizon after sunset and the beginning of the night, where it will appear as a golden point to the naked eye, and during the night hours the waning waning moon will be near it.

Saturn is the sixth planet in terms of distance from the sun, and it is the farthest planet in our solar system that can be easily seen with the naked eye. kilometers, so this planet is a beautiful world in every sense of the word when viewed through a telescope.

It is worth noting that the wonderful appearance of Saturn will not be limited to this night only, as it will be in a good condition for observing in the evening sky on the nights of August, September and October, which means throughout the summer in the northern hemisphere.
